The Indian Air Force (IAF) is constantly expanding its engagement with industrial partners in carrying out Life Extension Studies, Repairs, Overhaul, Refurbishment and Replacement of complex aviation parts and aggregates. The areas of engagement are in the fields of aircraft, aero-engine, Aggregates, RADARs, communication equipment, DG Sets at BRDs to maintenance of mechanical transports, basic workshop necessities, airfield lighting and arrester barrier systems at operating bases across pan IAF.

A seminar as part of Air Fest with the subject theme ‘Self Reliance in Sustenance Technologies for Military Platforms’ is scheduled at Nagpur under the joint aegis of Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association and Head Quarters Maintenance Command on 20th November 2022 to facilitate interaction with industrial partners.

The platform will be an opportunity for symbiotic progression of IAF and industry. It will give an opportunity for the industry partner to voice their ideas through presentations as well as exhibit their competencies through a display stall on the theme. It will be a daylong event with the morning session being dedicated to exchange of ideas through seminars followed by exhibition. Leveraging DRDO & CSIR capabilities for Public Private Partnerships (PPP) will also be deliberated with Tier – 1 firms. The seminar would be commenced with a presentation from a representative from HQ MC on the ‘Self-Reliance Requirements in Sustenance Technologies’.

The High Commission of India, Nairobi is planning to organise a seminar cum mini-DefExpo in Kenya, to promote the Indian defence industry in the region. It is scheduled to take place from 10-11 November based on discussions with the Kenyan MoD.

This initiative is being undertaken as per the MoD's guidelines for promoting India's defence exports to select target countries and the Chief of Defence Staff of Kenya is likely to be present during this engagement.

Indian Army contingents as part of bilateral and multilateral military exercises are able to highlight the capabilities of indigenously manufactured hardware and equipment. They also provide an opportunity to explore potential areas of mutual interest with Friendly Foreign Countries and promote the Indian Defence Industries.

A bilateral military exercise with the United States is planned at Auli, Uttarakhand from 15 November to 02 December 2022. To promote indigenous defence industries, an equipment display is planned during the said exercise. The exercise is based on Joint Operations under UN Charter.

The proposed domains of equipment to be showcased are as under:
(a) Small Arms.
(b) Individual Protective Equipment.
(c) Surveillance Equipment (Extended Rg aerostat & New Generation thermal sights).
(d) Energy Solutions (Portable and collapsible water/fuel storage, Portable & Flexible Solar Power Chargers, Fuel Cell Tech, Micro Wind Turbines).
(e) Combat Medical care & casualty evacuation innovations.
(f) 3D printing/additive manufacturing.
(g) Tents & Shelters (Snow & Windproof)

A bilateral military exercise with Australia is planned at Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan from 28 November to 11 December 2022. The exercise is based on operations by forces under United Nations Mandate.

The proposed list of equipment to be showcased is as under:
a. Drones & Counter Drone Systems.
b. Individual Protective Equipment.
c. Surveillance including Robotic System.
d. Small Arms/ Carbines.
e. Explosives/ Counter IED System.
f. Training System/Simulators.
g. Communication.
h. Utility Vehicles/Tactical Mobility
a. Camouflage.

A bilateral military exercise is planned at Nepal from 16-29 December 2022. To promote the Indian defence industries, it is proposed that indigenous equipment be carried by the participating contingent and showcased at Nepal.

Proposed domains of equipment to be showcased are as under:
a. Small Arms.
b. Drones & Counter Drones.
c. Surveillance & Optronics Equipment.
d. Protective Equipment.
e. Mine Protective Vehicles.

The participating Industry will have to bear the costs of their stay & travel. For all three exercises, the Industry showcase will happen only for 2-3 days within the stated timelines. The exact dates for the same shall be intimated shortly.
